COVID-19 Participant Precautions and Protocols
Camp Crescent Moon is pleased to provide in-person programming to campers and families. For the safety of all participants, Camp Crescent Moon requires that all participants agree to the following COVID-19 precautions and protocols.
Requirements for All Participants
Camp Crescent Moon and Sickle Cell Disease Foundation with guidance from the Camp Crescent Moon Medical Advisory Board in consultation with State & County Health Departments, and recommendations from the American Camp Association, and the Center for Disease Control, have developed the following safety precautions for all Camp Sessions.
Every camper, volunteer, and staff member attending Camp must provide proof of Covid-19 vaccination by Monday, June 19th.
The Food and Drug Administration authorized using a single dose of the Moderna or Pfizer bivalent COVID-19 vaccine for primary vaccination as well as for future doses.
Pre-Camp
All participants must self-monitor for symptoms 10 days prior to the camp session. Participants agree to reduce their risk of exposure. We ask all participants to use their best judgement in their decision-making regarding participation in large group and high-risk activities in the 10 days prior to the Camp session.

- The COVID-19 vaccine is required for all eligible participants. All participants must be fully vaccinated by June 19th.
- Participants will complete a health screening upon arrival to camp. The health screening will include a review of a symptom checklist, and possible exposure to COVID-19.
- Participants will be tested for COVID-19 with a rapid PCR test on arrival and before participating in any camp activities.
- Wearing a face covering is optional.
- Frequent hand washing.
- Acceptable face coverings include surgical masks and KN95 masks.
- The following masks are not acceptable: Neck gaiter, ski buff, bandana style, and masks with a valve.
- Contact The Sickle Cell Disease Foundation if you experience any COVID-19 symptoms or test positive for COVID-19 within 14 days after the camp session.

On-Site COVID-19 Testing Required before Registration:
Please note: There will be a limit of two parent/guardians or authorized family members who can drop-off camper(s). This is to limit exposure to our Camp bubble.
1. Negative Test Results: - If every individual in the vehicle tests negative, you will be eligible to advance to Registration.
2. Positive Test Results: If at least ONE person in the vehicle tests positive, every individual in the vehicle including the camper whether they have a positive result or not will be asked to leave the campsite due to close contact exposure.
We will provide the instructions and be available to assist if you shall have any questions or concerns pertaining to the on-site COVID-19 testing the day of camp.
THIS POLICY IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE AND WILL BE UPDATED AS NEEDED

- Reduced number of individuals in each cabin will apply this year
- Masks are required in all indoor activities and large group gatherings
- Weather permitting, we will hold more outdoor activities than in previous camp years
- Meals will be eaten outside in designated areas
- We will reduce the number of people in the dining hall to ensure social distancing
- Social distancing will be implemented, when necessary, in indoor spaces
- Frequent hand washing will be implemented for campers and staff
- Hand sanitizing stations will be placed around the campsite
- There will be a 10–15-minute break between each program to allow campers to wash/sanitize and for all program staff to sanitize their program equipment/supplies before the next group meets.
- Rapid covid-19 testing throughout the camp week for all participants
Pre-Arrival Requirements:
- Do not come to camp if anyone in your household or someone you were around exposed you to COVID-19 within the last 10 days
- Do not come to camp if you tested positive for COVID-19 - test required 72 hours before camp
- Do not come to camp if you check yes on any questions on the “COVID-19 Health Check Questionnaire”
- Do not come to camp if you are displaying any COVID-19 symptoms
Pre-Camp (10 days prior) Requirements:
- All participants must complete the daily “COVID-19 Health Check” Questionnaire for 10 days before camp, starting on July 5, 2023
- Masking 10 days before camp to reduce COVID-19 exposure is strongly encouraged starting July 5, 2023
- Campers and staff riding trains, airplanes, Uber, etc., must always wear masks to reduce exposure
- All participants are required to take a Rapid Antigen test on July 13, 2023, 72 hours before camp
- Camp Crescent Moon will supply the at-home Rapid Antigen test. Tests will be sent 1-2 weeks before camp. If you need additional tests, please email [email protected]
On-Site COVID-19 Testing Required before Registration:

- You MUST complete your COVID-19 test upon arrival in your vehicle (test will be provided)
